More

Well three days into my blog, and I miss a day.  You'll have to give me a pass on Sundays blog, and on tomorrows (maybe).

Yesterday we lost power for around 4+ hours.  no storm, no wind???????????  I guess there are some folks around Wabeno that won't have power until tonight (Mon. Aug. 1st.). What's up with that!

Tomorrows blog may, or may not happen. I have a trip to Green Bay, with a visit to my Endocrinologist (diabetic specialist) on the agenda. What's the difference between going to a regular doctor, and going to an Endocrinologist..., about two hundred bucks.

Bonnie, and I went to Highs Falls flowage today fishing.  What a day.  It started out warm, and sunny, almost windless (later it clouded up, but that tempered the heat).  We arrived about 9am.  There must have been six to eight boats out fishing on the upper flowage between the head waters, and the first narrows. By 10:30am the lake began filling up with boaters, and water skiers.  From noon until we left, it looked like week-end traffic.  Boats of every size and shape putting, zooming, and out right flying around the lake.  With all that traffic you would think the fishing was lousy.., well you'd be wrong.  If you knew what you were doing fishing was great, and we must have gotten the puzzle right, cuz for us the fishing was great.

Now just because the fishing was great, doesn't mean we filled the boat with fish.  We started slow, fishing a couple of familiar weed beds.  Bonnie had some half hearted strikes first, then it was my turn.  I slammed into a couple, but gave them the old quick release half way to the boat.  We pushed on, but things went quiet. By mutual agreement we moved to the opposite shore to see, if due to the boat traffic, they were sitting tight in the wood close to that shore.  As soon as a jig was pitched into the down tree top, a nice 17.5 inchers nailed it, and wound up in the live well.  A couple more quick releases later, another 16 incher met up with his compatriot in the live well.  Again things went quiet.  At Bonnie's suggestion we went to an area of heavy cover.  Time after time we hooked up with hefty fish only to loose them before bring them to boat.

As we pushed through the heavy cover I spotted a channel of  open water, and tossed my hollow bodied swim bait into it.  It made a small wake as it was retrieved, with a much larger wake following it (don't you love it when that happens).  I saw the fish take, and set the hook.  It felt like I had drivin the hook into a tree, the fish pulled back, my rod double over.., the fight was on.  My rod is sort of an "Ugly Stick" variety, coupled with a Black Max reel, and thirty pound super braid.  I put the blocks to him.  I could feel I was making head way in the fight.  The line was as tight as a bow string when "POING" the line went slack.., I said a dirty word followed by "Big Northern or Musky".  For those of you who don't know, Northern Pike and Musky have teeth like double edged knives.  They don't break the line, they cut it, by twisting their heads.  Serious Musky, and Northern fishermen use wire leaders, bass fishermen don't, preferring to cuss when they (Northerns and Musky) cut their lines.

Long story short we ended the day with two 17+ inch bass, and one around 16 inches, all in all a good time was had by all (well maybe not the three in my freezer).

Congratulates to my youngest son Jeff on his 31st birthday (are You kidding me 31)
Also Welcome Aboard to George Schaefer my first Charter Follower.

There are so many people in my prayers I don't want to mention anyone in particular, less I forget one.  I would like you to add this one line to your prayers though...,

LORD PLEASE REMEMBER THOSE WHO NEED YOUR TOUCH WHETHER PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY, EMOTIONALLY, SPIRITUALLY OR FINANCIALLY.  THOSE WE MAY FORGET TO MENTION, BUT YOU NEVER FORGET.  IN JESUS NAME WE PRAY.
